Maestro Hamilton’s Journey
A Life of Service
At the age of 22, Maestro Hamilton Souther experienced a profound spiritual awakening that changed the course of his life. Guided by visions, he traveled to the Amazon rainforest in search of healing and understanding. After months living in the jungle, he met Don Julio Llerena Pinedo, a respected master of plant medicine.¹
At this time, teaching a Westerner was strictly forbidden. But after Hamilton saved Maestro Julio’s life, Julio made the rare decision to accept him as an apprentice.
This marked the beginning of Hamilton’s formal training in Amazonian plant medicine as a Medico Vegetalista.
Over the next several years, he lived off the land, trained with Maestro Julio, and participated in hundreds of ceremonies. He studied the use of Ayahuasca, San Pedro, Tobacco, and other master plants, learning the ancient art of icaros and earning the title of Maestro Medico Vegetalista.
It is from this foundation that Blue Morpho was created as a center dedicated to safe, and effective plant medicine healing. Since then, Maestro Hamilton has guided thousands of people from around the world through profound personal transformation.
Today, he continues to lead retreats and guide others, staying true to the traditional practices he was entrusted with, while making them accessible to those who feel called to walk the learn.
¹ Maestro Julio Llerena Pinedo is profiled in one of the earliest major publications on Amazonian plant medicine—an article featured in High Times magazine. June, 1986.
